Ava Tam is a second year undergraduate student who studies Human Biology and Society from New York who joined the Mack Lab in September 2024. Right now, she is on the pre-medicine track, but is still exploring various healthcare professions. She joined the Mack Lab in order to learn more about the wet lab techniques needed to breed, screen, and image zebrafish while engaging in research related to cardiology, particularly how Ca2+ signals differ in various parts of the cardiovascular system. She is also involved in quality improvement in healthcare research, as well as the Labyrinth Lab where she researches the impact of urban planning on the ecology of LA. In her free time, she loves going to concerts, traveling, trying new foods, and hiking!
